What is TuffSkin?

TuffSkin is a unique and innovative solution that protects your countertops from damage while keeping them looking brand new.

It is a high-quality and durable stone film that is applied to your countertops to protect them from scratches, stains, and other forms of damage. The film is made from high-tech polyester which is clear, flexible and highly durable making your stone resistant to impact and abrasion. It is applied to the surface of the countertop and adheres firmly to create a protective barrier and provide a long product life. TuffSkin adhesive is designed specifically to work with stone.

  • TuffSkin is a proprietary stone laminate surface protection designed specifically to protect countertops, tables, bars and vanities fabricated from NATURAL STONE.
  • TuffSkin is constructed of 4 mil (.004) optically clear polyester with Stone Release Adhesive System.

How does tuffSkin work?

TuffSkin creates an impenetrable layer over your countertops, protecting them from scratches, stains, and other forms of damage. The material used in TuffSkin is highly resistant to impact, abrasion, and chemical damage. This makes it an ideal solution for kitchen and bathroom countertops that are exposed to a wide range of substances.


How is TuffSkin applied?

TuffSkin application is only available through an approved TuffSkin installer, as it requires specific equipment and techniques to apply. This is not a product recommended for DIY projects.

Stoneshield Surface Solutions technicians have been trained specifically in the handling and correct application of the product.

  • TuffSkin is designed to extend the life of your natural stone surfaces and is incredibly easy to clean and maintain. Spills that would normally stain or etch natural marble such as red wine or lemon juice can simply be wiped off with a soft cloth. 
  • Whilst TuffSkin protects natural stone from etching and staining, the surface film still needs to be maintained correctly to extend the life of the product. Like natural stone surfaces TuffSkin is susceptible to scratching and abrasion from items being dragged over the surface, or knives being used without a cutting board.
  • To avoid scratching, abrading or burning the TuffSkin, place hot pots and pans on a heat resistant cutting board or other protective surface and do not drag items across the benchtop, table, bar top or vanity.
  • To avoid cutting the TuffSkin film during food preparation, use a cutting board and never cut directly on the surface
  • The best way to clean TuffSkin is to use a mild, non-abrasive cleaner and a soft cloth or sponge. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials (such as gumption, jif or steel wool) that could scratch or damage the film. You can also use a microfiber cloth to gently buff the surface of the TuffSkin to restore its shine. Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure that your TuffSkin countertop remains in perfect condition for years to come.
  • TuffSkin is made to be replaceable in case of damage. It is possible to peel it back with a knife or a fingernail, however attempting to peel the product away from the stone surface is intentional damage and is not covered under warranty.
does tuffSkin have a warranty?
  • TuffSkin comes with a manufacturer’s warranty if maintained according to the guidelines outlined in the TuffSkin Client Warranty.
  • Over time, TuffSkin will eventually require replacing, like any stone surface that requires resurfacing or repair with regular use. How often a client will need to replace their TuffSkin will be determined by the client’s use and care.

  • TuffSkin Surface Protection LLC, provides warranty on TuffSkin products for up to 5 years for interior domestic applications and 2 years for commercial applications from the date of installation.  Exterior applications have a 1 year warranty.
  • The product must be applied by an authorised TuffSkin installer such as Stoneshield Surface Solutions.
  • TuffSkin warranty covers any yellowing, blistering and bubbling on the protected surface.

  • TuffSkin warranty does not cover intentional or unintentional scratching, cutting, peeling, abrasion, delamination or burn marks on the protected surface, internally or externally.
  • Abrasive cleaning agents such as Gumption, Jif, steel wool / pads and bristle brushes will scratch the film and must NOT be used or they will void the manufacture’s warranty.
